Balancing Equations for the Lab

Hey guys! So we have to balance all the equations from the lab for tomorrow, and I was wondering if anyone could help me (and anyone else who needs it) out with the last three for CuCl2. I know this is kind of late, any response will be much appreciated :)

Thanks!
Meghan

The Dangers of DHMO

Hey guys!

Here is the link to a funny little gag site that we learned about in Library and Research.  I figured it applied to chemistry because we all are awesome and know that dihydrogen monoxide is...
WATER!   :)

Mole Day!!!

Math may have Pi day but Mole Day is when we Chemists celebrate all things Chemistry! Why do you think we celebrate Mole Day on October 23rd? Feel free to bring in chemistry related treats for a mole day extravaganza! This is pretty much the most exciting thing in the world. Check out this website www.moleday.org

jewlery

did you guys know that all the colors in different gemstones are because of chemistry? It's all because of impurities! Usually these are transition metals that don't normally belong. For example, everyone loves a Ruby. The actually chemical formula for Ruby is Aluminum Oxide (Conondrum) which is an ugly dark brown. However, if a little bit of Chromium gets into the chemical bond it becomes a beautiful Ruby color. Look up other gemstones and figure out the transition metal impurity.

What is Your Favorite Element?

Mine is Hafnium. Two Reasons. First of all, it's totally obscure. Second of all, it is involved in two radioactive decays that help us learn about the solar system. 182Hf decays to 182W which allows us to date the formation of the core of the Earth (4.567 billion years ago). So exciting

Let's Get This Party Started

Good Times? I hope so! Let's use this to ask questions, post practice problems and share our love for Chemistry.
